Avalakki / Poha/ Flattened rice ladoo
Learning a grandmom recipe and making it on auspicious Janmastami day (as Lord Krishna loves Avalakki) makes the event more closer to my heart.
Please check the video for step by step process
Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time : 20 minutes
Makes about 10 ladoos
Ingredients:
- Thick poha – 1 cup
- Ghee – 3-5 tea spoon
- Cashew, Raisins, Badam ( Fried)
- Fried Chick pea – 1/4 cup
- Dry coconut – 1/2 cup grated
- Sugar – 1/2 cup
- Cardamom – 2-3
Step 1: Fry poha in about 3 spoons of ghee until it becomes golden brown
Step 2: Dry fry fried chick pea and dry coconut for about a minute
Step 3: :Let the poha cool for about 10 minutes.
Step 4: Blend poha, fried chick pea, dry coconut, sugar into a fine powder.
Step 5: Check if you are able to get a binding and are able to make ladoos. Most likely you would not get a binding instantly. So, please add 2-3 tea spoon of melted ghee. Then you would be able to get a good binding. Make ladoos of this mixture and serve the same 🙂
