Veg momos – Wontons – Dimsum


This is basically a tibetian dish which has captivated everyone’s hearts. This is simple and easy to make yet very tasty. Lets get started. For the step by step guide, please watch the video below.

 

Ingredients for dough:

  • Maida – 1 cup
  • Oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Water as required to knead
  • Salt – for taste

Mix all the ingredients mentioned above and knead them into a soft dough. Keep aside the dough for 10-15 minutes.

Ingredients for stuffing:

  • Cooking oil – 2-3 tea spoon
  • Onion – 1 finely chopped
  • Garlic – 4-5 cloves – finely chopped
  • Green chilies – 1 finely chopped
  • Mixed vegetables – 1 cup finely chopped
  • Soy sauce – 1 tea spoon
  • Black pepper – freshly ground – 1 tea spoon
  • Salt – as required for taste.

 

Step 1: Take a pan and add oil. Once the oil is hot add onions, french beans, garlic and saute for a couple of minutes. Then add rest of the vegetables one by one. Add about 1/2 tea spoon of salt and let the mixture cook. Do not over cook the vegetables as you would steam them again. You would lose the crunchiness of the vegetables by fully cooking them at this juncture.

Step 2: Flatten the dough to a thin sheet and cut them into small circles. Fill the vegetable mixture prepared in step 1 and fold them into cute dimsums 😀

Step 3: Steam them in cooker for about 8-10 minutes.

Step 4: Serve them hot with ketchep/groundnut chutney/garlic dip.
