Lip smacking south Indian breakfast. This is healthy as it is steamed. Usually people buy the instant mix and make rava idlies out of it. However, it can be easily made at home. Enjoy the dish 🙂

- Semolina /Upma Sooji – 1 cup ( 200 gms)
- Sour curds – 1/2 ltr
- Baking soda – 1/2 tea spoon
For seasoning – cooking oil – 4 spoon
- Mustard seeds – 1 tea spoon
- Urud dal 1 tea spoon
- Split chana dal – 1 tea spoon
- Finely chopped green chillies 1-2
- Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 spoons
- Finely chopped curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Step 1: Take a pan, add 4 spoons oil and once the oil is heated add mustard seeds, urud dal , split chana dal. Once the urud dal and chana dal becomes golden brown, add cashew nuts and continue to saute. Then add curry leaves and chopped chillies. Further add semolina and saute it until it turns light brown in colour. Add coriander leaves in the end and let this mixture cool for about an hour.
Step 2: Add curds about 400 ml, baking soda 1/2 spoon, salt as required to this mixture. This mixture should have consistency of idly batter. Grease the idly plate with oil and then add this mixture into it.
Step 3: Steam this mixture for about 10-12 minutes in cooker (without pressure).
Step 4: Rava idly is ready to eat and serve with ghee and cashew nuts.
