Halubai (Karnataka sweet dish)


Ingredients:

  • Rice – 1 cup
  • Pumpkin seeds – 1 spoon (optional)
  • Freshly grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Jaggery – 1.5 cup
  • Elachi – for flavour

Method :

Step 1 : Soak rice and pumpkin seeds for about 2 hours

Step 2: Grind the rice , pumpkin seeds and coconut to a fine paste

Step 3: Melt jaggery with 2 cups of water in a thick bottom pan and filter the mixture to remove (any dirt if any)

Step 4: Add the fine paste made earlier to this jaggery mixture and keep stirring it till the mixture till it thickens. Further add 1-2 spoons of ghee and elachi.
